D. Kalinkin: “Kazan is one of the safest cities due to the high-quality work of the police”

<p> (KZN.RU, January 18). More than 18 thousand crimes were registered in Kazan in 2018 that is almost 7% less than in 2017. Alexey Sokolov, the head of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan, announced these figures at the meeting on the results of the past year. </p> <p> Vladimir Izaak, the deputy minister of Internal Affairs for the RT, and the head of the Main Investigation Department, Major-General of Justice, Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, Oleg Drozdov, the Kazan Prosecutor, as well as heads of police departments also took part in the meeting. </p> <p> Last year, the minimum number of crimes against the person was recorded in the capital of Tatarstan. Since 2008, their number has declined by more than 2 times, including the number of murders and the body injury by more than 1.5 times. </p> <p> The head of the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan also cited statistics that, over the past 14 years, mugging cases were 95%, robberies –88%, burglaries – 76%, and hijackings–  92%. Detection of crimes committed in public places was 46% in 2018, while the number of such crimes decreased. More than 1200 crimes were discovered and hundreds of administrative offenses were prevented thanks to video surveillance programs and 30 thousand video cameras installed in public places. </p> <p> Summing up last year, A. Sokolov drew attention to the fact that the Kazan police were faced with the task of ensuring the safety of citizens and the protection of public order during the preparation and holding of the World Cup. In general, Kazan police garrison provided security for more than 3 thousand events during the year. </p> <p> The head of the department noted that the targeted and well-coordinated work of all departments in 2018 made it possible to maintain control over the crime situation in the city and achieve positive results in most areas of operational activities over the past year. </p> <p> “I thank the management team, management and personnel for the work during the year. And I assure you that all the tasks set by the Ministry of the Interior will be fulfilled”, said Alexey Sokolov. </p> <p> Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Kazan Executive Committee, also thanked the police officers for their conscientious service. He noted that thanks to the quality work of the Kazan police, the capital of the RT is among the safest cities in the country. “You are entrusted with a great responsibility to preserve the rule of law in a million-population city. This is a great, difficult job, demanding full dedication, sometimes extremely dangerous, but necessary for our citizens”, marked D. Kalinkin. </p> <p> Departmental and municipal awards were presented at the end of the meeting. Denis Kalinkin awarded Gratitude of the Mayor of Kazan Venera Valiullova, a senior investigator of the Inquest Division of the Police Department №13 “Azino-2”, Ruslan Lutfullin, deputy commander of the 1st Company of the 3rd Battalion of the PPS Regiment, Timur Nizamov, a senior investigator of the Department of Investigation of Organized Crime Activities in the Field of Economics and Crime the corruption focus of the investigative unit of the investigative department, and Kirill Shipaev, the head of the burglary section of the Criminal Investigation Department. Rizida Aitykina, the deputy head of the precinct police and juvenile police department №16 “Yapeeva”, received an honorary diploma of Kazan. </p> <p> Vladimir Izaak, the deputy minister of Internal Affairs for the RT, and the head of the Main Investigation Department, Major-General of Justice, Alexey Sokolov, the head of Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan, presented the police officers who distinguished themselves in operational activities, departmental awards “For excellent service in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RT”, certificates of appreciation and gratitude. </p>
