At the Zambezi River zoo, big-eared foxes were named Zemba and Farey

Raccoon helped to sum up the results of the contest.

Big-eared foxes that live in the Zambezi River zoo in Kazan, were named Zemba and Farey. Raccoon helped to choose their names.

For information, big-eared foxes were born in the Republic of South Africa, then they were delivered to the Czech Republic, and since August 2019, they live in the Kazan zoo. Citizens of Kazan could participate in the selection of names for these unusual animals. According to the terms of the contest, the names had to be in African style. Three names reached the final, and the zoo staff suggested the fourth. To sum up the results of the contest, the zoo staff asked an assistance of an independent expert-raccoon Bella.

Four pieces of paper with the names were put in front of the racoon, on each piece of paper there was a banana. Bella selected a paper with the names Zemba, which means faith, and Farey, which means joy, the Kazan Zoo press service reports.
