More than 20 thousand applications were received for participation in the Kazan Marathon

This number is two times higher than last year.

(KZN.RU, April 30, Alena Miroshnichenko). More than 20 thousand people applied for participation in the Kazan Marathon, which is twice the level of last year. Vadim Yangirov, the director of the Kazan Marathon and a series of sporting events of “Timerman”, told this today at the press conference in the IA “Tatar-inform”.

Sports competition will be held this year on May 4 and 5. Amateur and mass races will be held on the first day. V. Yangirov told journalists that actress Daria Poverenova and Andrey Sharonov, the rector of the Moscow School of Management “Skolkovo”, will also run a distance of 3 km. At the end of the competition day, a parade of nations will be held in Kazan, in which marathon runners will take part: representatives of 29 countries of the world. After the races, it is planned to draw the main prize in the competition, a car, among the participants. The organizers ask to have passports to correctly identify the winner. Also, the second prize is provided: a trip to the Istanbul Marathon. At the end of the day, the band “Pizza” will perform for the participants.

On May 5, the Russian Marathon Championship will be held within the framework of the Kazan Marathon, where professional athletes will run the distance. V. Yangirov said that the competition is as close as possible to international standards. “The main change is a prepared flat and fast track. I personally checked the climb, it was less than 130 m. This is the level of the London and Barcelona marathons”, he said. This year, the race route has changed. The level of the current event also determines that after every 2.5 km there will be refreshment points (water and wet drenching sponges), food points every 5 km (water, isotonic drink, bananas, and oranges). At the second half of the distance, participants will be given energy gels, which is also practiced at international marathons, explained the speaker. “All conditions have been created for athletes to achieve successful results and to fulfill all the necessary standards”, said Airat Ahmerov, the deputy minister of Sport of the RT.

The experience of holding the Kazan Marathon and sporting events of the international level made it possible to organize the Russian Marathon Championship in Kazan, noted Andrey Kruporushnikov, the sports director of the All-Russian Athletics Federation of Russia. “We can see the Republic of Tatarstan is the leader in organizing sports events. We wanted to combine the two components in the marathon: the mass movement and the participation of the strongest professional athletes of Russia. We want Tatarstan to become the athletics capital of Russia again”, said A. Kruporushnikov. He expressed hope for new records in the upcoming competitions.
