A non-contact payment system to be introduced on 152 buses in Kazan

Metroelectrotrans supervisors were trained for new professions at the enterprise

This year, 152 buses will introduce a contactless fare payment system. Alexey Sidorov, Chairman of the Kazan Transport Committee, announced this during the final report to Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan. By the end of 2024, contactless payment systems were introduced on 42 buses of the company.

In 2024, Metroelectrotrans completed the conversion of all trolleybuses and trams to a non-contact payment system. The equipment was installed on 96 trams and 160 trolleybuses. It allowed saving 224 million rubles on payroll. Some supervisors were retrained as drivers or auditors for the control service, while others received new specialties within the company.

For reference, since this year, the fine for ticketless travel increased to 2,500 rubles. Currently, only 1% of passengers refuse to pay their fare after receiving comments from inspectors.
