Accredited cafes and restaurants of Kazan will be included in the recommended list for guests and participants of WorldSkills Kazan 2019

The Kazan Executive Committee discussed the preparation for receiving guests of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019.

(KZN.RU, February 15, Alena Miroshnichenko). The preparation of catering enterprises of Kazan to receive guests of the WorldSkills Kazan 2019 was discussed today at the Kazan Executive Committee. The participants discussed the reception of tourists as part of the championship, the accreditation of catering establishments of Kazan, and the conditions for obtaining the Visit Tatarstan recommendation icon, as well as methods for improving the work of cafes and restaurants in English.

Daria Sannikova, the director of the Tourism Promotion Committee, noted that the event provides an opportunity for all tourism enterprises to once again demonstrate their potential and the capabilities of the city. “About 1600 young professionals fr om more than 60 countries of the world will come to our city to compete for medals in one or another competence. More than 1500 experts will evaluate them. Obviously, this event is very significant for the hospitality and tourism industry”, she said.

At the same time, the flow of tourists during the championship will not be limited to four days of competition and the opening and closing ceremonies, said Maksim Denisov, the deputy CEO of the ANO “Directorate of Sports and Social Projects”. He explained that the main flow of guests will be on dates from August 15 to September 1. In addition to the main WorldSkills championship, there will be competitions among juniors, which will gather about 280 participants of 12 competencies. In addition, about 380 participants and experts in 27 competencies will take part in the FutureSkills and Future Skills Show competitions, wh ere the working professions of the future will be demonstrated. In addition, WorldSkills International Conference will be held at the “Kazan Expo” during the competition, which will bring together about 1200 participants.

About 16 thousand participants and guests of the competition will be in Kazan during the competition, said M. Denisov. Most of them are from Europe and Asia. Thus, the largest delegations are from China, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Russia, and Brazil. “It is assumed that participants will be accommodated in the Universiade Village, the rest – in hotels of Kazan. Most of them are concentrated in the central part of the city. In addition, we received recommendations from the organizers of the championship regarding catering. They recommended to increase the menu with the number of items relating to Asian cuisine, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free dishes”, M. Denisov to appealed Kazan restaurateurs.

To provide guests with the maximum variety of offers, it was decided to create a single list of establishments in Kazan that will meet all the requirements of hospitality. D. Sannikova reminded that this format of work has proven itself well during the World Cup. Dilbar Sadykova, the director of the Center for Development of Tourism of the RT, told more about the receipt and benefits of the accreditation of Visit Tatarstan. She marked that accreditation does not imply another inspection and imposition of sanctions; it is completely free.

In addition to filling out an application, restaurants and cafes will have to undergo examination for the English-speaking staff, a menu translated into at least English, current activity permits, a website and accounts, which are also presented in Russian and English at least. “Accredited objects receive a sticker, a certificate, and priority promotion throughout the year”, marked the speaker.

“One of the urgent problems that we continue to face is the lack of knowledge of foreign languages by staff. We see the solution of this issue in attracting students from specialized higher education institutions to work at catering establishments during the championship”, said D. Sannikova. Zufar Gayazov, the chairman of the Board of the Association of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Kazan and the RT, told in more detail about this initiative. The idea was supported by Rustem Gafarov, the first deputy head of the Executive Committee. He recommended creating a working group together with the university rectors to discuss an organization of student practice.

“I consider such large-scale events in our city as an intangible investment in the tourism business”, said R. Gafarov. He reminded restaurateurs that in May, Kazan will host the National Championship “Young Professionals”, which also should not be forgotten.

The World Championship in professional skills WorldSkills Kazan 2019 will be held in Kazan from 22 to 27 of August. Young professionals from 60 countries of the world will take part in 56 competencies of the tournament. From 20 to 24 of May, the capital of the RT will host the finals of the VII National Championship “Young Professionals”.
