The inverted world of the Moscow art group AES + F was presented in the Gallery of Contemporary Art of the RT.
(KZN.RU, June 7, Alina Berezhnaya). The exhibition “Inverso Mundus” (Inverted World) of the Moscow art group AES + F has opened at the State Museum of Fine Arts of the RT. The exhibition presents a video installation, photographs of absurd social utopias. Journalists of urban and republican media were the first to visit the exhibition yesterday.
“We provoke people to think, tell them about the world as we see it. Everyone can find their interpretations here”, explains Evgeny Svyatsky, the creator of the exhibition “Inverso Mundus”.
The exhibition consists of 12 illusionist photographs and video installations, which represent a kind of irony, making fun of the absurdity of the world. The canvas depicts pigs butchering the meat man, children in the ring with the elderly, and the poor giving money to the rich. Each work makes you stop and think.
“The artistic truth is much sharper than the truth in reality. We show the absurdity of the processes in the world. Yes, all our images are metaphorical, but this is the reality that surrounds us”, commented E. Svyatsky.
In total, 57 models were involved in the project, some of them are professionals. According to Vladimir Fridkes, the photographer of the art group AES + F, each of the actors was carefully selected. When choosing models, external data were taken into account, and first of all, bright facial features. “We didn’t ask actors to try on some particular role, they had to be themselves. Sometimes, we had to change couples during the filming, because they were not in harmony with each other”, said V. Fridkes.
During the photo shoot, the models changed poses, the camera took about 20 shots in one second, and then the video sequence was formed. Thus, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see both the video installation and photographic works using graphics.
The first exhibition “Inverso Mundus” was presented in 2015 at the Venice Biennale. Later it was presented in the halls of Istanbul, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, and other world centers.
The exhibition will run in Kazan until the end of August.
