Over 550 events were held on open air during the New Year holidays, it is a record for Kazan.
(KZN.RU, January 9, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). During the New Year holidays, 55 Christmas towns were operating in Kazan, and more than 550 festive events took place in open areas. Azat Abzalov, the head of the Kazan Department of Culture, announced this at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the RT.
This year a special program “Winter in Parks” was developed. It took place in the park “Chernoe Ozero”, on Bauman Street, in the Gorkinsko-Ometevsky Forest, the Kaleidoscope Park, and other popular public spaces. Citizens participated in contests, quests, quizzes, flashmobs, interactive performances with New Year's characters and street performances. Some citizens spent the night from December 31 to January 1 in the park “Chernoe Ozero” and in the Gorky Park. A special program was prepared with karaoke, skating, and music. In particular, about 50 thousand people visited the performances of Remue Menage, the theatrical group from France, from 29 to 31 of December.
Festive events in the regions started on December 20. At first, they were held by municipal institutions, after the state ones joined them. New Christmas towns have been opened, for example, in the residential complex “Salavat Cupere”. Activities in large residential areas this year were devoted to the development of good-neighborly relations between residents.
“Both the settlement and the central Christmas towns were very popular because the festive events were held almost daily”, noted the head of the Kazan Department of Culture. “All the New Year's programs affected the interests of both young and elder generations. Venues were not empty, and we are very happy about it. There were no incidents. All events were held at a high level”, said A. Abzalov.
Kazan entered the top five popular Russian tourist cities for Christmas.
