(KZN.RU, February 27). The flag of the international movement WorldSkills will return to Earth on February 28. Now it is on board the International Space Station. After that, the flag relay will continue, which will take place in 20 countries that previously hosted world championships WorldSkills.

The flag was delivered to the ISS in December by a crew led by Anton Shkaplerov, the commander of the ship, the Russian pilot-cosmonaut from the detachment of the GCTC. While on the ISS, Anton Shkaplerov and another Russian cosmonaut Alexander Misurkin greeted the participants of the 45th world championship WorldSkills, which will be held in Kazan on August 22-27, 2019.

“We are pleased to contribute to the preparation of the upcoming event. Now the flag of the WorldSkills movement is with us on the ISS! It will return very soon to Earth and continue its journey around the planet. Then it will visit all corners of Russia, the country that once was the first to open the cosmos to the world”, noted Anton Shkaplerov.

Alexander Misurkin marked that the cosmonaut's work is largely connected with the working professions. “The ISS is a colossal project, over which hundreds of people of different specialties work, each of whom puts their skills, talent, and soul into work, in other words, shows professional skills”.

“Skills for the Future. A great future for both man and mankind begins with the first step, the first skill. The way of human development, its mastery, the infinite search for perfection is the idea of WorldSkills”, says the statement.

The project “WorldSkills Flag Relay” started in October of last year. The flag was solemnly handed over by the representatives of the capital of the UAE to Kazan, the city-organizer of the following world competitions WorldSkills, on October 20 at the closing ceremony of the WorldSkills Abu Dhabi-2017. The official celebration of the flag took place on October 21 in Sochi at the World Festival of Youth and Students.

After the return of the flag to Earth, its relay race will begin on March 12 in Madrid, the city that first hosted the WorldSkills Championship in 1950. The flag will then be taken to Germany, Ireland, the USA, Belgium, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Taipei, Finland, Australia, Canada, Portugal, Switzerland, Brazil, Austria, Italy, the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Japan.

After the end of the international stage, the relay race will continue in Russia. It is planned that the flag will visit all 85 regions of the country, as well as 43 municipal districts and 2 urban districts of Tatarstan.
