Schoolchildren and students will take part in competitions at the Kremlin embankment.
(KZN.RU, April 24). On April 27, Kazan residents will run the traditional field and track relay race, dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The start of the 77th race in a distance of 3 kilometers will be given at the Kremlin embankment. Schoolchildren and students of educational institutions of the city will take part in the competitions.
The gathering of participants at the Kremlin embankment is scheduled for 1.30 pm. The relay race starts after the parade of participants. Girls will take part in the first race, which will start at 2.15 pm, the start of the boys’ race is at 2.30 pm.
The third run of mixed teams of higher educational institutions will begin at 2.45 pm, at 3 pm – the fourth run of mixed teams of universities.
During the years of the athletics relay race in Kazan, many well-known athletes took part in it. For example, champions and prize-winners of the Olympic Games Liliya Nurutdinova, Olga Rukovishnikova, Ravil Kashapov, Firaya Sultanova, Elena Migunova, Artem Mastrov. Also, there are prize-winners of the championships of the USSR and Russia among the participants and organizers of the relay race: Nikolay Mityanin, Nina Zubrilova, Nikolay Kolchin, Eric Aukhadeev, Vladimir Golovnov, Sergey Shelekhov, Zhanna Afanasieva, Victor Chumakov, Lyudmila Kasatova, Vera Smelova, Svetlana Opoleva, and many other famous masters.
Veterans of sports and athletics, who have repeatedly participated in the relay in different years are traditionally invited to the event. A cultural program is prepared for participants and guests. The congratulation of veterans and rewarding of winners of relay race will be held after the race.
The awarding ceremony will take place at 3.20 pm, reports the Committee of Physical Culture and Sports.
