On July 21, Kazan Orthodox Christians will celebrate the feast of the appearance of the icon of Our Lady of Kazan, one of the most revered icons of the Russian Orthodox Church. On this day, believers will make a traditional religious procession. Ilnur Shakirov, the head of the Department for the Development of Languages and Cooperation with Public Organizations, told about the route of the procession and the associated temporary restriction of traffic at the staff meeting at the Kazan Executive Committee today.
On holiday, a solemn liturgy will begin in the Annunciation Cathedral at 9 am. Afterward, believers led by Metropolitan Feofan will perform a procession with a miraculous icon from the Annunciation Cathedral of the Kazan Kremlin through the streets Kremlevskaya, Chernyshevsky, Profsoyuznaya, then around the Kremlin through the streets Karl Marks, Mislavsky, Bolshaya Krasnaya to the Holy Cross Church of the Bogorodetsky Monastery.
“In this regard, from 10 am to 1 pm, the traffic and parking will be temporarily closed along the route of the religious procession, and from 6 am to 1 pm on Mislavsky Street as well”, said Ilnur Shakirov. He added that city services and law enforcement agencies would ensure public order and take care of the safety of believers.
