10 performances and 2 gala concerts: Kazan will host the Chaliapin festival in February

The festival will open with the premiere of the opera “The Tsar's Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov.

(KZN.RU, December 14). From 1 to 23 of February of the next year, the XXXVII Chaliapin International Opera Festival will be held at the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil. Its program will consist of 10 performances and 2 gala concerts.

The festival will open with the premiere of the opera “The Tsar's Bride” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov. The new production of the director Mikhail Panjavidze will be designed in a classical manner. The audience will enjoy a technological stage design, bright stylized costumes.

A block of operas representing masterpieces of Russian classics will continue with the performances of “Eugene Onegin” and “The Queen of Spades”, in which the main parts will be performed by the soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia.

The program will include performances of foreign composers: “Madame Butterfly” and “Turandot” by J. Puccini, “Aida”, “Nabucco” and “La Traviata” by G. Verdi. The German singer Boris Statsenko (Nebuchadnezzar) and the soloist of the New Opera, Victoria Yarovaya (Fenena), will perform in Nabucco.

The program of the festival will be completed with two gala concerts with the participation of invited stars and soloists of the Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theater named after M. Jalil.

The Chaliapin International Opera Festival is the oldest Russian forum of opera art. The festival was founded in 1982. For a short time, it acquired the status of All-Russian (1985) and international (1991).
