T. Graf: “There is no doubt that the World Cup-2018 in Kazan will be organized at a high level”

E. Lodvigova and I. Shakirov met with the head of the Department of Economics and Science of the German Embassy in Moscow.

(KZN.RU, January 19, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). German athletes are happy to come to Kazan for the FIFA World Cup-2018, said Thomas Graf, the head of the Department of Economics and Science of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Moscow. Today he visited the Executive Committee of Kazan where he met with Evgenia Lodvigova, the first deputy head of the Kazan Municipality, and Ildar Shakirov, the deputy head of the Executive Committee, overseeing transport, economic development, and trade.

The guest shared that he came to Kazan for the third time but never been in the building of the City Hall before. He arrived in the capital of Tatarstan on January 17, and during that time, he managed to visit the school №36, the Kazan Federal University, the German House of the RT, and meet with representatives of the republican departments. Thomas Graf thanked the city authorities for today's reception and separately for the excellent organization of the Confederations Cup-2017.

“We saw how well the Confederations Cup was organized last year so there is no doubt that during the World Cup-2018 it may be different”, he said. According to him, the German Football Federation is glad that the German national team will be able to take part in at least one match in Kazan.

T. Graf oversees the interaction with Tatarstan in the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Moscow. At the meeting in the Executive Committee, he outlined the most promising areas of cooperation: economy and science. German investors are satisfied with the growth rates of the economy of the RT, which are ahead of the Russian indicators, and they willingly invest in it. Science is the guarantor of the stability of relations between Russia and Germany.

“I am glad that cooperation between the countries is supported, and our republic and city are in the priority of the considered projects in Russia”, said Evgenia Lodvigova. “The celebration of the 30th anniversary of the twinning relations between Kazan and the city of Braunschweig is planned in 2018. This is very important because it was the very first one. This is the city, with which we really have a relationship”. According to her, a number of bilateral events and a delegation's trip to Germany are planned in the autumn.

“Relations in the sphere of the economy between companies from Germany and Kazan are well developed. The positive dynamics is demonstrated both by exports and imports”, said Ildar Shakirov. He noted that cooperation is established in such industries as oil refining, wholesale and retail trade, industrial production, science, and education.

After the meeting, participants exchanged souvenirs. T. Graf will take away from Kazan a rare edition: a book “Names of Kazan Streets” in a hardcover.

Liliya Diyarova, the deputy director of the Committee of the Tourism Development, also took part in the event.
