From September 23 to October 8, 2023, the 19th Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China. The Asian Games or Asiada is a sporting competition held every four years among athletes from Asian countries since 1951. The games are held under the auspices of the Olympic Council of Asia and are regulated by the International Olympic Committee.
In the run-up to the event, Hangzhou organized a number of events among its twin cities. One of them was the GoodTalk conference, which was held at the Experimental Elementary School of Olympic Reserve in the city.
The GoodTalk Conference is a global annual event that has been held in schools in China, Singapore, Australia, the United States, Denmark, Japan and other countries since 2009. The aim of the conference is to promote the study of Chinese and English languages in the world through communication between young people from different countries, to deepen knowledge and understanding of different cultures, as well as to identify young talents in the art of diplomacy.
The conference hosted a video clip competition. Participants had to prepare videos in English titled "Asian Games in My Heart. Hangzhou Through My Eyes," and share their thoughts on the Olympic spirit and the Asian Games. This year the event brought together 95 contestants from Russia, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
Pupils of school №9 with profound study of English of Novo-Savinovsky district and gymnasium № 183 of Soviet district represented Kazan. A 4th grade pupil of school No 9 Yaroslav Moiseyev told about his hobby wushu and skiing in his video. His work took the second place.
Kazan and Hangzhou have been twinned since 2002.
