A memorial ceremony honoring the victims of the escalating situation in the Middle East was held at the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kazan
On March 4, officials and community members gathered near the diplomatic mission to pay tribute to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and others who lost their lives.
The ceremony was attended by official representatives of the Office of the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan, the State Council of Tatarstan, the Cabinet of Ministers of Tatarstan, the diplomatic corps, religious leaders, regional ministries and agencies, as well as Iranian citizens residing in the region.
The city of Kazan was represented by Deputy Mayor Evgeniya Lodvigova, along with officials from the International Relations Department and the Committee for Tourism Development.
The ceremony was opened by Davoud Mirzakhani, Consul General of Iran in Kazan. In his address, he highlighted Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's contribution to strengthening the country's sovereignty and emphasized his role as Iran's spiritual and political leader.
Oleg Korobchenko, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan — Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, conveyed condolences on behalf of the regional leadership and residents. He stressed the strong friendly ties between Tatarstan and Iran and reaffirmed the region's readiness to provide necessary support.
Kamil Hazrat Samigullin, Chairman of the Spiritual Board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan and Mufti of Tatarstan, spoke of the leader’s significance for the Iranian people and the broader Muslim world, noting that his passing is a profound loss.
Evgeniya Lodvigova expressed her condolences to the Iranian people, signing the book of condolences and laying flowers near the portrait of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Words of sympathy and solidarity were also voiced by Consuls General of other countries accredited in Kazan, members of the academic community, and Iranian students enrolled in universities across the capital of Tatarstan.
