Thirty-six thousand residents of Kazan from more than 2 thousand enterprises took part in the city's cleanup at 100 city areas. More than 8,000 cubic meters of garbage was removed to landfills. Igor Salyakhutdinov, the Chairman of the Committee for Land Improvement, summarized the results of the cleanup at the Business Monday meeting.

“A huge amount of garbage was collected during a cleanup day! I would like to express my gratitude to everyone who participated in the cleaning of the city. This is a valuable contribution from citizens, which covered a wide range of areas – green areas, embankments, coastal areas, and territories of industrial facilities and educational institutions. We traditionally clean up for the Victory Day and the 80th anniversary. A lot of work is ongoing throughout the city, involving educational institutions, industry events, and public organizations. I ask my colleagues, heads of district administrations, to ensure that the collected garbage is taken to a landfill,”- said the Mayor of Kazan.

As part of the cleanup, coastal areas, green areas, parks and squares were cleaned. The territory at the Kazan Family Center, the natural area along Gavrilova Street near the Kazanka River, green areas at the intersection of R. Zorge Street and Tankovaya Street, the area at the Ak Bars Arena, and other areas were all cleaned. By the summer season, residents of the city cleared the central Locomotive Beach of debris. Over 500 people cleaned 70,000 square meters of the beach, Portovaya Street, Alfred Khalikova Street, the green zone, and the section along railway tracks.

According to the results of the city cleanup, more than 8,000 cubic meters of garbage was taken to landfills for disposal, including 6,800 cubic meters of municipal solid waste and 1,300 cubic meters of bulky waste. During the cleanup, 14 unauthorized dumpsites were eliminated.
