Head of the Directorate of Parks and Squares of Kazan – about the establishment of the institution, main challenges and new projects
The 8th summer season at the parks and squares presents a large-scale cultural program covering 30 public spaces. For over 8 years, more than 10,000 events have taken place in Kazan's parks, attended by millions of residents and tourists. Every year, more than 60 delegations from various parts of Russia come to learn about the experience of the institution. Aigul Latypova, the head of the Directorate, who celebrates her birthday on July 28, spoke with the KZN portal about new projects and this summer season, as well as her favorite parks.
In 2015, a republican program to develop public spaces was launched in Kazan. After some time, it became apparent that it was not enough just to build parks; they needed to be maintained and promoted. Over these eight years, the directorate has undergone significant changes. Today, the staff of the directorate has grown to 65 people who work in offices located in different parts of the city.
The Kazan Directorate of Parks and Squares is unique in that it has 20 park managers who work in a multifunctional field. Almost the entire team participates in creating the concept for seasonal events. The team turn creative ideas into reality.
When asked about where Aigul Latypova finds inspiration for her work, she said that she gets it from her family. And no doubt, from the friendly and positive team of managers. “My team brings 90% of success, stability and calmness,”- summarized the head of the Kazan Directorate of Parks and Squares.
